CAPTURING FAMILY MATTERS: THE 2026 HOMES FOR FAMILIES FUNDRAISING BREAKFAST

There are some events that are about more than simply gathering in one room. They bring people together around a purpose, a community, and a shared belief that every family deserves an opportunity to build a stable future.

Infinite Vision Photography was honored to capture moments surrounding the 2026 Homes for Families Fundraising Breakfast, hosted by The Road Home Dane County at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin.

Held on October 8, 2026, this year's breakfast centered around a meaningful theme: “Family Matters.”

Family Matters

The message behind the morning was powerful.

Families experiencing homelessness don't always fit the image people may have in mind when they hear the word "homelessness." The event program describes the difficult realities some families face—from sleeping in a vehicle to traveling long distances for work while trying to stretch limited resources.

At the center of the message was something simple but important: children need more than their basic needs met. They need stability, an opportunity to succeed in school, room to grow up healthy, and the ability to be loved and supported for who they are.

Stable housing creates a foundation that allows families to begin planning for their future.

Michael Etheridge, Executive Director of The Road Homes

A morning of community and connection

The breakfast brought together supporters, community members, sponsors, donors, leaders, and advocates who share a commitment to helping families move toward stable housing.

The morning's program included a performance by Kai Brown, a welcome speech from Chara Taylor, and “Family Matters: Building Stability” presented by Michael Etheridge.

Guests also heard Kendra Williams share her story, followed by a pledge moment led by Belinda Thomas and closing thanks from Chara Taylor.

For me as a photographer, events like this are about capturing more than the scheduled program.

They're about documenting the connections happening around it—the conversations between guests, the smiles, the embraces, the speakers sharing their stories, and the small candid moments that communicate what the morning felt like.

Community Support makes an impact

An event of this size doesn't happen without people and organizations coming together.

UW Health served as the presenting sponsor, with additional support coming from Champion, Partner, Advocate, and Friend sponsors throughout the community.

The event also recognized members of the Homes for Families Society, including donors who have committed to multi-year gifts supporting families on their journey toward stable housing.

That level of community involvement is part of what made this event meaningful to document.

telling the story through photography

Event photography is about more than taking pictures of who attended. It's about preserving the story. A photograph can capture a fraction of a second, but the meaning behind that photograph can continue much longer.

From guests arriving and connecting with one another to speakers addressing the room and candid interactions throughout the breakfast, each photograph becomes part of the visual history of an organization's work.

For nonprofits and community organizations, these photographs can continue telling that story long after an event ends—through websites, annual reports, social media, fundraising campaigns, newsletters, and future events.

That is one of the things I value most about photographing community events in Madison.

A photograph can capture a fraction of a second, but the meaning behind that photograph can continue much longer.
