When you're thumbing through old photos or pictures from a recent photo shoot, what are the shots you're most drawn to?
When it's me looking through those photos, I like to see the essence of whoever is in front of the camera. For example, I want to see my family enjoying each other and having a good time. I want to see real smiles and emotions. I want to be able to look at my photographs and be able to relive the moment and feel the emotions as if I was actually in that moment again.
Photography found me in a time when basketball had taken me as far as my body would allow. I taught myself photography, unlike basketball, a natural born talent. After studying and taking general photography class, I chose to challenge myself and become a photographer. The moment I fell in love with photography was when I understood my images could transpire a persons essence of self. I love photography because it is a form of expression and communication using many different colors of light to create an image without words conveying its meaning.
I truly believe that photographs are so important. And the best kind tell a story. Remember the phrase, “A picture's worth a thousand words?” My goal for every photo is to have it be worth a thousand and one.
